KNEE-DEEP CRITIQUE!

Well, geez...last month sure proved to be a good one for viewing and learning (and learning about viewing). Photographer Dan Burkholder's show was generously attended with over 200 visitors gracing the presence of our dear old Gallery 308.

Their new sign is incredible--just ask Woody.

A Woody Welcome!

Thanks to all who attended the opening, the Civic talk, the book signing, and/or the weekend workshops! Thanks to Dan for teaching and sharing his work and to Jill for keeping Dan in line! Thank you to those who schooled us in disaster relief techniques! And a final generous thanks goes out to Canon and Trim Masters Charitable Foundation Inc. for sponsoring the event.

Now you can relax, take a breath and revel in the wisdom and/or experiences you've acquired from April, 2008...

Pfew!

THE BUDDING PHOTOGRAPHERS OF SPRING

Yes, Dan Burkholder's workshops taught all of us who attended a thing or two...

Saturday turned students' digital dilemmas into dutiful decisions, while Sunday carried as much HDR know-how as there is approaching pollen. Here are some luscious examples of the HDR (High Dynamic Range) technique from those who attended:

Boxes by Lucas Windsor - Hartford City, Indiana.

Before and after photos of an upstairs lightswitch by Greg Harty - Muncie, Indiana.

Bag Peanuts by Lisa Fett - Muncie, Indiana.

If you're interested in learning more about the HDR technique, please visit Dan's web site www.danburkholder.com to see when and where his class offerings will fall next. If you're into purchasing HDR software, you can receive a 15% discount if you buy it through Dan's link: http://danburkholder.com/Pages/misc_pages/Discount/Discount_Info.html

HOW DOES YOUR POINT OF VIEW LOOK?

Miss Earth Day?

Don't fret.

Thankfully holidays aren't the only times we can act out in a positive, yet themed way.

Most of us have a place we call home, but we all share one larger home--the planet. Do your part to stay informed about environmental and climate related issues. Heck, go ten steps further and actually do something to help cut down on energy use. Something as simple as walking or biking instead of driving will not only help the earth, but also your body as well. Plus, it can actually be fun! Take time out to stop and smell the flowers as you walk and if there aren't any to smell, plant some! Tired of paying so much for gas? Why not carpool? Chipping in for gas cuts down on expense as well as pollution. And please remember to try your best not to feel helpless, because nothing could be farther from the truth. You make an impact whether you want to or not. Now all you have to do is decide what kind of an impact you want to make.
